ZH-3115
ZH-3115 is commonly used as an accelerator in two-component epoxy systems to accelerate the curing process and improve the processing performance of the resin/polyamide system.
Essentially, this is a viscous liquid with amine activity (similar to an accelerator/amino accelerator), which promotes the reaction between the epoxy resin and the polyamide curing agent.
This substance is not the main epoxy resin, but acts as a catalyst/accelerator additive, helping to reduce curing time and extend the operating temperature range of the system.
Main features
Appearance: A pale brown, transparent, viscous liquid.
Viscosity: Relatively high (15,000 – 50,000 Cp @ 40 °C) – this allows for good dispersion in epoxy resin before reaction.
Amine value: Approximately 230 – 280 mg KOH/g, indicating its reactivity with epoxy groups in the resin.
ZH-3115 does not act as the primary hardener, but is usually an accelerator or co-hardener in some specific formulations:
✅ Increased curing speed:
Catalytic additives like ZH-3115 help reduce the gel time and curing time of epoxy mixtures at room temperature or lower than without a catalyst. This shortens the application process.
✅ Extended operating temperature range:
Catalyst allows the epoxy system to cure even at temperatures below the normal limit of the primary hardener, which is very useful in outdoor or cold environments.
✅ Compatible with polyamide/epoxy systems:
ZH-3115 is often combined with polyamide-type hardeners to improve corrosion resistance and film mechanical properties in industrial coatings.
Applications
Industrial Anti-Corrosion Coating
Epoxy anti-corrosion paint for machinery, equipment, and steel structures in industrial environments.
Protective/Epoxy Coating
Two-component coating system requiring fast curing time and high mechanical load bearing capacity.
Low-Temperature Curing Applications
Used in cold environments or outdoor application conditions where normal hardeners are ineffective.
Complex Reaction Epoxy Systems
Combined with polyamide curing agents or specific hardeners to achieve desired mechanical and chemical properties.
